Council counting down to 2019

Townsville City Council is counting down to the New Year with free family fun across the city.

The community is invited to celebrate the end of 2018 with events at Strand Park, Riverway and Nelly Bay.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the New Year's Eve events are a fantastic way to enjoy a night out with the family.

"Council has organised events at three different locations so everyone can have a chance to celebrate New Year's Eve," Cr Hill said.

"Each location is going to be slightly different, but there will be screenings of Moana which was chosen by the public and fireworks.

"It's out with the old and in with the New Year – I'm looking forward to seeing Townsville shine and where 2019 takes us."

Council would like to remind all residents to ensure their pets are safe and secure during any fireworks.
