At this week's Council meeting, Council resolved to issue a Notice of Decision to Grant a Permit under the provisions of the Bayside Planning Scheme in respect of planning application 2025/277/1 for the land known and described as 531-535 Hampton Street, Hampton.
Bayside Mayor Cr Debbie Taylor-Haynes said that after carefully considering the concerns raised by our residents, Council has made a decision that balances thoughtful growth with the impact on our residents.
"This decision underscores the importance of local insight in planning processes, recognising Council's understanding of their local communities and how planning decisions affects the daily lives of our residents.
"The Victorian Government's proposed Activity Centre Program overlooks the valuable insights and local understanding that our community brings. By sidelining community input, the program risks erasing the unique character of our neighbourhoods and diminishing the voices of the people directly impacted by these changes."
