Ararat Rural City Council has supported local business We're Knot Crazy through its Facade Grants Scheme. The grant funded the prominent sign along the building's verandah facade.
We're Knot Crazy is a locally owned Ararat retail business offering indoor plants, pots, giftware, bags, jewellery, home décor, and related accessories. The store also provides friendly advice on plant care and helps customers choose products to suit their homes and gifting needs.
Owner Leisa Iezikil relocated and expanded to new premises on Barkly Street before Christmas, marking her busiest holiday trading period yet.
Leisa praised the grant process, noting it was straightforward to apply for, and appreciated Council staff informing her of the opportunity during her relocation plans. "Relocating and expanding into a new premises means we had a lot of expenses, so the grant contribution towards the signage meant that was one cost we didn't need to worry about," she said.
She added positive feedback from customers on the shop's new appearance. "I've had lots of positive comments about how great the front of the shop looks. The grant meant we could do all the signage around the same time and put our best foot forward right from the start," Leisa said. "People say that the signage is really easy to see and we have been so busy up this end of Barkly Street, so it's working!".
Mayor Cr Bob Sanders welcomed the business success. "Such an exciting result for We're Knot Crazy and Barkly Street. This new look will nurture our local businesses, draw in more shoppers, and offer a stronger presence for Ararat retail. We thank Leisa for choosing to grow here and back our shared vision for the town centre," he said.
