Council Lends Helping Hand to Shoalhaven Heads Family

Shoalhaven City Council has waived tipping fees for a family who was recently devasted by a house fire earlier this month in Shoalhaven Heads.

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley and her fellow Councillors supported the Mayoral Minute on Tuesday. 26 November 2019 to waive approximately $10,000 in waste services charges. Funds will come directly the Mayor's Relief Fund and Council's unallocated Donations Fund.

"Mr and Mrs Davies and their three-week-old baby girl have lost everything in a house fire that consumed their dwelling in Ravenscliffe Road earlier this month." Mayor Findley said.

"Thankfully, there were no injuries sustained by the family and the only damage was material and contained to the one property.

"Considering the trauma this local family have just been through the least we can do is waiver any tip fees they may incur while removing damaged and burnt items from the site.

"I know the Shoalhaven Heads community has rallied to support this step and I am proud that Council can do their part to help them rebuild their lives in the Shoalhaven."
