Council ranger charged with impersonating police officer - Cockle Bay

A man will face court later this month charged with impersonating a police officer.

About 1.40am today (Sunday 1 September 2019), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to a licensed premise at Cockle Bay, following reports of an altercation.

Officers were told a 24-year-old man, who is a council ranger, produced a silver badge and attempted to intervene by identifying himself as a police officer.

The man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with person imply self as police officer.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 25 September 2019.
