Baw Baw Shire residents have experienced faster response times to road maintenance requests since Council's new Road Maintenance Contract was put in place almost a year ago.

Council noted a progress report on key road maintenance activities at its meeting on Wednesday 26 May.

Council's $8 million per annum contract with DM Roads to deliver road maintenance works across the Shire for a five-year period commenced in July 2020.

The new contract takes a proactive approach to programming works, inspecting roads and scheduling repairs. The increased funding has allowed a higher level of service and ongoing maintenance works to improve the experiences of all road users.

Since July 2020, DM Roads has received 1999 customer requests, with an average response time of 1.56 business days.

Of these requests, 532 were for unsealed roads and a 490 were for sealed roads, with a further 265 call outs to remove fallen trees from roads.

Residents can also track the progress of maintenance works across the Shire via an interactive dashboard on the Council website. The dashboard will be expanded to include other programmed works once consistent timeframes are established.
