Campaspe Shire Council has secured $40,000 in Victorian Government funding to develop a comprehensive active recreation strategy that will guide investment and planning across the shire over the next decade.
The funding has been awarded through the Victorian Government's 2025-26 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund (Planning Stream) and will support the development of the Campaspe Shire Active Recreation Strategy-a Council-wide framework to ensure the opportunities within the shire meet changing community needs.
The project will deliver a 10-year strategic plan to guide future investment in infrastructure that will support physical activity, identify priority projects, improve access to facilities and spaces, and support more equitable participation outcomes for residents across Campaspe Shire.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the funding was a strong endorsement of Council's commitment to supporting healthy communities.
"This funding allows Council to take a strategic, long-term approach to recreational planning across the shire.
"The strategy will help us understand where investment is needed most, how we can improve access for all ages and abilities, and how we can better support participation across our diverse communities," he said.
