Council seeking Recovery funding to rehabilitate Fishermans Reach Rd

Kempsey Shire Council

Fisherman's Reach Road

Kempsey Shire Council is aware of the extremely poor condition of Fishermans Reach Road which was heavily impacted by March's flood event.

Council takes the safety of residents very seriously and for this reason made temporary restorative works for the road a priority road after the flood.

Due to the severity of flood damage, Fishermans Reach Road is eligible for emergency works under the joint Australian, state and territory governments' Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

The extent of the damage requires costly repairs and by seeking further Recovery funding Council will be able to better prepare Fishermans Reach Road and protect the roadway for future extreme weather.

Council has prioritised the application for Fishermans Reach Road, working hard to compile all required documentation including cost estimates, assessments of the conditions before and after flooding and gaining permission for Transport for NSW to proceed with the application.

With the application submitted to Transport for NSW, Council expects an outcome soon and will commence rehabilitation works shortly after.
