Last year Isaac Regional Council was informed that Peabody Energy, as owner of Ellensfield Road, was concerned about safety and liabilities arising from the condition of the road.
Council has been working with Peabody Energy since then to understand the issues and plans for the road on the basis that the road would remain open while those discussions continue. Those discussions are still continuing.
Public safety and effective public access around the region are paramount in Council's advocacy to Peabody Energy on behalf of the Community.
Council will keep the community informed of any updates arising from its discussions with Peabody Energy.
