Council to host Australia Day nomination workshops

Do you know someone who deserves to be acknowledged for the contribution they make to the Griffith community, but aren't sure how to go about nominating them for an Australia Day Award?

Council will hold two workshops to help locals understand the process involved in lodging an Australia Day nomination form.

The workshops will be held on Thursday, 31 October 2019 at 1pm and again on Thursday, 21 November at 5pm at Griffith City Council.

Nominations are open in the following categories:

  • Environmental Citizen of the Year (new category)
  • Community Project of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Junior Citizen
  • Sportsperson
  • Young Sportsperson
  • Club Person
  • Sports Team

Please note: Council has included a new category this year, the Environmental Citizen of the Year.

This award recognises outstanding efforts by individuals or organisations to preserve the environment, reduce litter and improve recycling, or use the Return and Earn scheme in an innovative way to fundraise for a meaningful cause.

"I urge everyone to think about nominating deserving people so we can show them how much we appreciate their efforts," Australia Day Working Group Chair, Councillor Christine Stead said.
