Council welcomes back Armidale Express print edition

Armidale Regional Council

Armidale Regional Council Mayor Ian Tiley is welcoming back the print edition of the Armidale Express with open arms, following the announcement the valued local newspaper will return to shelves.

The effects of COVID-19 on regional journalism caused the Armidale Express to move to an online-only format last year.

Cr Tiley said having a print edition of the newspaper is a valuable community asset and its return should be celebrated by all.

"Having quality journalism tailored to the needs and interests of our local community is crucial to residents being well-informed about important matters affecting the region," he said.

"Bringing back the print edition means local news is more accessible to everyone in our region and removes any technological barriers that online-only news can present."

Armidale Regional Council is excited to support the return of the local paper, and will be showing this support by advertising through the Armidale Express each fortnight.

"It is very important that we show how much we value this local asset, so Council will be helping the paper in any way it can," said Cr Tiley.

"Local print newspapers are the fabric of regional areas, so the return of the Armidale Express is a huge win for the region and I would like to congratulate all involved in getting this important resource back up and running."

The local newspaper will return to print on Friday 23 April 2021.
