We welcome the announcement made on Monday by the Premier, that Victoria will get a container deposit scheme to recycle glass, aluminium and plastic drink containers by 2023.
We have been long advocates of the scheme, lobbying in the past. At the September Council meeting, 2019, we unanimously carried the motion to wholeheartedly support the deposit scheme.
We called on the Victorian Premier and the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change to introduce this as a matter of urgency, pledging our support for collaborative advocacy.
We support the deposit scheme and are excited for the announcement.
