Council Welcomes Funding For New EV Charging Stations

Plans to install electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at two new public sites in the Shoalhaven will progress following investment from the NSW Government.

The Minister for Climate Change, Energy and the Environment, Penny Sharpe, announced the recipients of funding under round three of the NSW Government's Electric vehicle destination charging grants program last week.

Council will consult with the community early in 2026 about leasing public carparking spaces at Vincentia and UIlladulla to the NRMA to install four new charging stations.

"I'd like to the thank the NSW Government for the investment in this important infrastructure which will ultimately help attract more visitors and spending in our region," said Mayor Patricia White.

"When visitors stop to charge, they have time to explore our local shops, cafés, and attractions. Every charging station is a gateway to supporting small businesses and growing our local economy," Cr White said.

"We will be seeking feedback from the community about the proposed locations for this new infrastructure and strongly encourage you to have your say about the sites being considered," she said.

Once the locations are finalised, each of the charging stations will have two DC fast charging cables, allowing four cars to be charged simultaneously at each location.

Three privately owned carparks at Callala Bay, Vincentia and Ulladulla were also awarded funding under the NSW Government's EV charging grants program.

A total of 19 new charging cables will be delivered across the five proposed sites in the Shoalhaven, with six companies to install the infrastructure.
