Councillors vote for free parking around Lismore Base Hospital

Parking in the Hospital precinct on Hunter and Dalziel streets will be free for the next six months and parking restrictions waived in Weaver Street, Laurel Avenue and Mckenzie Street to enable all-day parking after Lismore City Councillors voted to introduce the changes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Isaac Smith said this was done in recognition of the critical and selfless role our local health care professionals in caring for our community during this pandemic.

The State Government has also provided free parking at one of their parking stations on Uralba Street.

Council would also like to remind everyone of the importance of respecting the safety of our frontline staff in what is a very difficult time for both them and our community.

All of our health care workers are doing their upmost to ensure our community gets the best care and service possible. In turn, we must remember to treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve.
