Counterfeit Cash Found After Traffic Stop

Police are searching for a driver after finding counterfeit notes in an abandoned car at Clovelly Park last night.

Just before midnight on Wednesday 1 April, police spotted a silver Toyota sedan speeding along South Road, Clovelly Park. It initially pulled over on Percy Avenue, however when officers approached the car, it took off, and was dumped in Thirza Avenue, Clovelly Park where the driver ran off.

Patrols searched the area with the assistance of Police Dog Bandit, but the driver was not located.

Police did find 53 counterfeit $50 notes, printed sheets of fake notes, printers and weapons inside the abandoned car.

The car was seized for forensic examination.

Investigations are continuing to identify the driver of the rented car.
