Counterfeit Notes - Darwin

Northern Territory Police are urging members of the public be on alert for counterfeit notes in the Darwin region.

Two separate reports regarding fake money have been made to police. A $20 counterfeit note was used at a service station in the Darwin area. Later the same day an attempt was made to pay with a forged $10 note at a Darwin licensed premises, Northern Territory Police say.

Both counterfeit notes had the same print on both sides and were similar in appearance to real $20 and $10 notes.

Police are asking the community to vigilantly check for counterfeit notes when exchanging cash.

At this stage no arrests have been made. Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to notify police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers.
