Council is pleased the court recognised Council's right to maintain public safety at the pre-polling booth in Kew.
The court sought an undertaking from the Liberals that they would accept and comply with Council officer directions regarding the placement of signs. The Liberals agreed.
On Friday Council officers designated safe zones to ensure residents would no longer have to walk on the road to avoid signs which were blocking the footpath. This was the intention of Council staff from the outset. While it is disappointing it took court action to achieve this outcome, the staff have done a great job.
