Cr Tony Herbert re-elected Mayor

Cr Tony Herbert has been elected Warrnambool City Council mayor for a second consecutive year.

Cr Herbert thanked fellow Councillors and Council staff following his re-election at the annual meeting of Council on Monday night (October 28).

"I remain passionate and proud of our city and its people," Cr Herbert said on being re-elected.

"I believe I have demonstrated I can work productively with a wide range of people and have worked hard over the past 12 months to achieve the goals in our Council plan.

"What drives me every day is the belief that I, we, can make a difference.

"Good leadership is not just about me, it is recognising the strengths I have around me and each member playing their role.

"With such a great number of goals and projects already under way we must strive to work together and remain focused on our common goals this year.

"We have had some serious success.

"Much of what I have loved this year has been my involvement in the community through functions, meetings and events.

"It has shown me the vast and varied talent of our community members, the tireless dedication of our fabulous volunteers and so often demonstrated to me the strong leadership and innovation we have in our community.

"This role has been a privilege.

"Thank you for entrusting me another year."
