Crane collapse causes power outage, NSW

Police from the NSW States Central Coast have advised residents that a crane collapse has caused a power outage that may take 24 hours to repair, NSW Police say.

About 4.15pm today, a large crane working on a construction site on Kendall Street, Gosford has collapsed.

Following the collapse which damaged two cars and pulled down power lines, the driver was trapped.

The driver was eventually released from the cab and was unhurt.

At this time the power supply is believed to have been interrupted to at least 800 homes and residents are advised that it may be 24 hours until the crane can be removed and the power restored.

Police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command are working with the power company and the crane operators to complete the operation as quickly and as safely as possible.

At this time Kendall Street remains closed to all traffic and police advise motorists to avoid the area.
