Crash driver returns 0.304 reading in Cataract

A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after crashing his car and returning a breath analysis reading of 0.304 south of Sydney today, NSW Police say.

Police were called to Picton Road, Cataract, about 11am today following reports of a single vehicle crash.

It appears a Toyota Hilux utility vehicle was being driven west on Picton Road when it hit the centre barrier, veered back across the road and up an embankment, then rolled back onto the roadway blocking the westbound lanes.

The driver, a 52-year-old man from Fairy Meadow, was not injured but was unable to undertake a roadside breath test.

He was placed under arrest and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.304.

The man’s licence was suspended and he was issued a court attendance notice for the offence of high range PCA to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 26 September.
