Creating Jobs and Boosting Tourism: Grants Strengthening the Territory's Event and Festival Portfolio

The Territory Labor Government is investing in festivals and events across the Territory.

Minister for Tourism and Culture, Lauren Moss, today announced more than $467,000 through the first round of 2018/19 NT Major Events Company (NTMEC) Funding for 14 events and festivals.

The Fund aims to create new sustainable events that drive visitation to the Territory, deliver economic and social benefits and create jobs.

The funding supports new and develops existing events to engage the local community, attract visitors and showcase the Northern Territory.

A diverse range of festivals and events across the Territory encompassing sport, music, military commemorations, literature and Indigenous culture are being supported through this funding round.

For the first time, two distinct funding streams were offered:

  • Event Development Funding - supports innovative changes and additions to event programs that drive visitation
  • Strategic Development Funding - supports events to build capability, sustainability and ensure a safe event environment.

The second round of NTMEC event funding will open on October 30, and close on November 30, for events held March 2019 March 2020.

Applicants are encouraged to contact NTMEC to discuss their application prior to submission.
