Creative Opportunities Abound in Hobsons Bay

Hobsons Bay City Council is inviting artists, musicians, creatives and community groups to apply for six exciting creative opportunities across the city.

Expressions of interest are now open until early June for the various programs.

Laneway Gallery

For visual artists aged 18 and over, applications are open to have work exhibited on a series of outdoor billboards called Laneway Gallery at Woods Street Arts Space in Laverton. The site is curated around the themes of environment, social justice and inclusion, cultural history and local heritage. Successful artists receive a $1,000 fee.

Airtime Exhibition Space

Young people between 12 and 25 years old can see their work transformed on a large scale at Airtime, a series of large flags at Altona Meadows Skate Park.

Front gallery at Woods Street Arts Space

The front gallery at Woods Street Arts Space will rotate community-focused exhibitions, showcasing four to six exhibitions each year. It is a great free exhibition opportunity for creatives.

Soundstep Studios Artist-in-Residence program

Musicians and sound artists aged between 18 and 30 can apply for the six-month opportunity to use professional equipment and receive mentorship in a purpose-built space at Laverton.

Creative programming at Woods Street Arts Space

Woods Street Arts Space offers artists and community groups free access to a flexible, multi-purpose venue to deliver workshops, events and creative projects that connect, engage and celebrate the diverse community of Laverton.

Woods Street Youth Art Prize

The popular Woods Street Youth Art Prize returns, with the biennial exhibition and award celebrating the creativity of young artists (14 to 25 years old) from Melbourne's west.
