Criminal Groups Squad Nabs Man Sought for Firearms Offences

Detectives have arrested a man wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for serious firearm-related offences in Sydney.

Detectives attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command executed a search warrant at a unit on Bundock Street, South Coogee, shortly before 9am today (Tuesday 5 September 2023), in relation to an unrelated investigation.

Upon arrival, police observed a man jump from a window of the unit and over a nearby fence. Officers engaged in a short foot pursuit, however the man could not be located.

Detectives continued the search warrant, while other officers – including Traffic and Highway Patrol officers – searched for the outstanding man.

Upon completion of the search warrant, the same man arrived at the unit before he saw police and fled on foot.

Following a short foot pursuit, a 33-year-old man was arrested near Gumara Street about 2pm, where it was established he was wanted by virtue of four outstanding arrest warrants for serious firearm-related offences and a drug-related offence.

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station, before he was taken to a hospital under police guard for treatment to a foot injury.
