The Crisafulli Government is on a mission to rebuild relationships with key partners and strengthen Queensland's presence in the economic powerhouse of China through a trade mission this week.
The trade mission will be led by the Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates, and will strengthen Queensland's growing relationship with its largest trading partner through a series of strategic meetings and events in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
During the mission, Minister Bates will open a new Trade and Investment Queensland office in Shenzhen, further cementing Queensland's presence in the fast-developing Greater Bay Area.
The Minister will also attend Hong Kong's HOFEX 2025, one of Asia's largest food, beverage, and hospitality trade shows, featuring over 1,200 international exhibitors and attracting more than 30,000 buyers, after a five-year absence
This mission follows the recent release of the Queensland–China Trade and Investment Strategy 2025, which outlines the Crisafulli Government's strategic approach to boosting commercial outcomes for Queensland businesses and education providers.
A decade of the previous Labor Government left Queensland's trade relationships in tatters due to Labor's mismanagement and unpredictable policy.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Trading Ros Bates said Queensland's relationship with China played a crucial role in creating jobs.
"China is Queensland's largest trading partner, accounting for more than $43 billion in trade last year alone," Minister Bates said.
"We are leading from the front with our trade partners, assuring stakeholders that Queensland is delivering on our commitment to stability, certainty, and growth.
"Our trading partners were let down by the previous Labor government. We are here to rebuild those relationships and deliver a Fresh Start for Queensland."
