Critical Incident Declared After Man Dies At Waterloo

A critical incident investigation is underway following the death of a man after NSW Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to assist him in Waterloo early this morning.

Just before 2am (Tuesday 15 July 2025), emergency services were called to a unit complex on Pitt Street, Waterloo, following reports of a concern for welfare.

On arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics, with the assistance of NSW Police officers, attempted to sedate the man, when he became unconscious.

The officers and paramedics attempted to revive the 45-year-old man; however, he was pronounced deceased at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

A crime scene has been established.

A critical incident investigation team from the State Crime Commands Homicide Squad will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
