Critical incident declared following vehicle stop in Campsie

A critical incident has been launched after a man fell ill following a vehicle stop today in Sydney’s southwest, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 6am (Monday 18 December 2018), two officers from Strike Force Raptor executing Firearm Prohibition Orders stopped a vehicle on Cornelia Street, Campsie.

The officers conducted a search of the vehicle before being told by the driver, a 24-year-old man, that he was feeling unwell.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were called and attended shortly after and administered first aid before conveying the man to Canterbury Hospital.

The man was later transported to Royal Prince Albert Hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.
