Critical incident investigation launched after man injured - Asquith

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a man was injured while speaking with police on Sydney's Upper North Shore earlier this week.

About 4pm on Monday (1 July 2019), officers attached to the Kuring-Gai Police Area Command responded to reports a man was lying down in a supermarket carpark on the Pacific Highway, Asquith.

Police located the man, who appeared to be well affected by alcohol, and engaged him in conversation. While speaking with the officers, the man fell and hit his head.

First aid was rendered until NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived and took the 49-year-old man to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for a head injury.

A Critical Incident Investigation Team from Nepean Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject to independent review.
