Critical incident investigation launched following crash in Blacktown

A critical incident investigation has been launched following a crash at Blacktown overnight, NSW Police say.

Just after 12.30am (Sunday 24 December 2017), police from Blacktown Local Area Command saw a Ford Falcon allegedly travelling in a concerning manner along Bungarribee Road.

When the vehicle stopped at traffic lights, a police officer attempted to speak to the driver; however, the man accelerated away from them.

A short time later, officers came across the vehicle after it had crashed into a tree.

After the 56-year-old man was released from the vehicle, he was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to multiple injuries.

His injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the crash.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
