Critical incident investigation underway after crash at Taree

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash on the state's Mid North Coast.

About 10am today (Tuesday 1 October 2019), police were called to a home on Edinburgh Drive, Taree, after reports of a domestic-related incident.

Officers attached to Manning-Great Lakes Police District arrived at the home before a vehicle drove away. Moments later, the vehicle has hit a fence.

Police rendered assistance to the female driver – and sole occupant of the vehicle – before paramedics arrived; she was then flown to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

A Critical Incident Investigation Team from Mid North Coast Police District will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject to independent review.
