Critical incident investigation underway after police operation in Gloucester

A critical incident investigation has been launched following a barricade situation in Gloucester overnight, NSW Police say.

About 9.20pm today, police attended a home on Denison Street, Gloucester, and attempted to speak to a 63-year-old man.

The man made a number of threats and a perimeter was established.

About 11.55pm today, emergency services saw the home alight.

When the blaze was extinguished, emergency services entered the home and found the man suffering burns.

He was taken to Gloucester Hospital and has now been be airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

There were no other people in the home.

Officers established a crime scene which will be forensically examined.

A critical incident investigation team will examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
