Critical Incident: Man Plunges from Surry Hills Balcony

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a man was injured in Sydney today.

Around 11.30am today (Thursday 16 November 2023), officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command attended a unit on Belvoir Street, Surry Hills, as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police entered the unit after hearing an argument occur inside the property.

On entry, police found a man had fallen from the balcony.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man – aged 51 – before taking him to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established with a critical incident team from Kings Cross Police Area Command investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to an independent review.

Initial inquiries suggest the man's fall was not suspicious.
