Critical Incident: Motorcyclist Dies on M4 at Parramatta

A critical incident investigation is underway after a motorcyclist was struck by three vehicles, including a police vehicle, in Sydney's west this morning.

Shortly before 2am today (Wednesday 23 July 2025), a Honda 110cc motorcycle was being ridden east along the M4 near Church Street at Parramatta, when it was involved in a collision with a white Kia Cerato sedan, throwing the rider to the road.

It's believed a silver Toyota Echo sedan, being driven by a 20-year-old man, has then driven over the rider.

A Ford utility following the Echo has struck debris, and is believed to have continued from the scene, before a marked police vehicle, from Cumberland Police Area Command, also struck the rider.

Police immediately commenced CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived on the scene. The man was taken to Westmead Hospital; however, could not be revived. He is yet to be formally identified.

The 37-year-old male driver of the Kia, the driver of the Echo, and a male Senior Constable have undergone mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and a critical incident team from Auburn Police Area Command, with the assistance from Crash Investigation Unit, will investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.

The police vehicle was not on urgent duty and did not have lights or sirens activated at the time. There had been no interaction with and no pursuit of the motorcyclist or any other vehicle. Initial information is the officers were returning to the station when the incident occurred.

Police are appealing for the driver of the ute to contact them as inquiries continue. Police believe the driver could have information that may assist investigators.

The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Anyone with information about this incident or a dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is managed on a confidential basis. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
