Cronulla man charged over domestic violence

A man will face court next month after he was charged in relation to a domestic violence incident, NSW police said.

About 3pm yesterday, a 26-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman became involved in an argument at a home on Kurnell Road, Cronulla.

The man allegedly assaulted the woman and forced her into a bedroom. The woman alleges she was detained in the room for three hours before she was able to escape and alert police.

The woman was taken to Sutherland Hospital where she received treatment for minor injuries.

Police later attended the address and arrested the man. Whilst at the location police allegedly located handcuffs.

The man was taken to Miranda Police Station and later charged with detain person with intent to cause actual bodily harm and possess prohibited weapon.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 27 October 2015.

An Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) was also granted.
