Crooks run fowl of the law

Warrigal Police are crowing after an eggcellent catch in Drouin this moring, Victoria Police say.

Police were called to an industrial estate on Weerong Road around 12am after reports of three suspicious cars parked in the area.

Officers located the cars but no one was present so police decided to keep an eye on the vehicles from a distance.

A short time later members intercepted a Hiace van that had five adults laying in the rear of the van and 42 allegedly stolen chickens.

Police have ascertained that the chickens were stolen from a local poultry farm and have interviewed the driver and his passengers over the theft.

They were released pending summons.
