Damage at Kingborough 'Twin Ovals' Cricket Ground, TAS

Police are investigating a stealing and damage matter occurring in Kingston overnight last night, Tasmania Police say.

Sometime between Thursday 2 November and the early hours of Friday 3 November, offenders have stolen signs from St Aloysius Catholic College, Huntingfield Campus.  The offenders have then taken the signs to the twin ovals near the Kingborough Sports Centre and used them to destroy two cricket pitch covers.

The cricket pitch covers were valued at a total of $10,000.

"This appears to be nothing other than malicious damage, it is very disappointing for this to happen to facilities that are here for the local community," Constable Sam Tilley, of Kingston Police, said.

Tasmania Police will be reviewing CCTV footage and conducting a forensic examination of the signs.  Police believe a small 4 door light coloured hatch may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information should contact Kingston Police Station on 6173 2097 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
