Dangerous driving charge at Helensvale, QLD

Police have charged a man following an alleged dangerous drive incident at Helensvale overnight, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at 10.35pm Polair have observed a white Holden Commodore on Hope Island Road which was confirmed as stolen. The vehicle was tracked to a carpark off Pendraat Parade where two unmarked police vehicles have attempted to intercept the vehicle.

The stolen vehicle has been driven at one of the police vehicles and collided with it before driving away onto Hope Island Road and eastbound onto Oxley Drive. The vehicle was tracked by Polair and observed to travel in excess of 130km/hr and through several red lights.

The vehicle has entered an underground car park in Marine Parade Labrador where the driver exited the vehicle but was subsequently located and arrested by police.

A 28-year-old Labrador man has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of fraud and one count each a possessing dangerous drug, fail dispose of syringe, fail to stop motor vehicle, fail to provide specimen of breath for analysis, unlicensed driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle and burglary.

He is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court this morning, October 29.
