Dangerous operation and unlawful use of a vehicle in Townsville, QLD

Police have charged a 14-year-old boy following an incident in Townsville early this morning, Queensland Police say.

At around 1.30am police sighted a vehicle, which had been reported stolen from an address in Idalia, being driven dangerously in Townsville.

Officers from Townsville Rapid Action Patrol successfully deployed tyre deflation devices, causing the car to come to a stop on Somer Street in Hermit Park.

After a short foot chase police took a boy into custody at the scene.

A 14-year-old boy Hermit Park boy has been charged with one count each of burglary, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property, obstruct police and driving without a licence.
