Dangerous operation charges in Ellen Grove, QLD

Police have charged a man following investigations into an incident in which a vehicle collided with a police car on Saturday, March 17, Queensland Police say.

Around 1.35pm officers observed a Holden Commodore which has been reported stolen from Collingwood Park in the driveway of a property in Tunis Court.

As officers pulled up behind the Holden Commodore the driver allegedly reversed backwards, colliding with the front of the police vehicle, causing damage.

It will be further alleged the driver accelerated at speed, evading police before exiting Tunis Court towards Boundary Road.

No police officers were physically injured during the incident.

Around 7.30pm the same vehicle travelled to a service station on the Logan Motorway at Larapinta where it caught fire shortly after pulling in.

At around 5pm yesterday officers from Inala Tactical Crime Squad located a man at an address in Ellen Grove, where he was taken into custody.

A 25-year-old Ellen Grove man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, wilful damage of police property, failing to stop, driving without a licence, failing to remain at the scene of a crash and obstruct police.

He is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court today, March 23.
