Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle at Broadbeach, QLD

Police have charged a man with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after an incident at Broadbeach yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.

It is alleged at about 11.50pm the man entered a stolen vehicle at a Broadbeach shopping centre carpark and drove the vehicle in a dangerous manner on Victoria Avenue.

It is alleged that after losing control of the vehicle and hitting a kerb the man attempted to leave the scene however was apprehended by police a short time later.

It is further alleged whilst being arrested, the man assaulted a police officer by punching him.

The 23-year-old Robina man is charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, receiving tainted property, driving under the influence of liquor and assault police.

The man will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
