Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in Surfers Paradise, QLD

A man has been charged after a vehicle was allegedly driven at high speed in Surfers Paradise and Southport overnight, Queensland Police say.

Around 8.45pm police received numerous Triple Zero calls from concerned members of the public in relation to a white Toyota Hilux utility allegedly driving dangerously on tram tracks before colliding with a vehicle on Thomas Drive.

It will further be alleged the vehicle then travelled the wrong way down Cavill Avenue and continued on Ferry Road before stopping at roadworks on Skiff Street.

A police officer performing special duties at the roadwork site was able to arrest the driver without incident.

A 47-year-old Edens Landing man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.

He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on March 24.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has dash cam footage or who may able to assist with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
