Dangerous operation of motor vehicle charges in Rockhampton, QLD

Police have charged a man following the alleged unlawful use and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in Rockhampton today, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at about 9am a man entered a business on Power Street where he attempted to enter one vehicle before stealing another vehicle located at the business and driving away.

Police allegedly observed the vehicle being driven dangerously on Yaamba Road, where it failed to stop for police, before the car stopped at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Steiners Road and a man was taken into custody.

A 33-year-old Stanage man has been charged with one count each of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, attempted enter premises and commit an indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle not fitted with an interlock, driving under the influence, failing to stop and obstruct police.

He is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday, December 19.
