DBS supports National Safeguarding Week in Wales

The yearly awareness initiative works towards collectively better informing understanding around safeguarding adults and children by highlighting best practice and the sharing of resources.

DBS' Regional Outreach Team is supporting partners across Wales, such as Early Years Wales, by delivering informative workshops and webinars for employers, safeguarding and recruitment leads.

The interactive sessions focus on supporting organisations to understand what level of DBS check can be applied for and what information these checks will provide. In addition - where someone poses a risk of harm to children or vulnerable adults - supporting organisations to understand the power or legal duty to make a referral to DBS.

Along with the workshops being delivered during Safeguarding Week, your Regional Outreach Adviser can also support with:

  • answering DBS-related queries and providing advice via phone/email
  • attending meetings, training and conferences, or visiting your organisation to have a face-to-face discussion
  • helping organisations/networks to understand what level of DBS check can be applied for, and what information these checks will provide

The Regional Outreach Team works with organisations and the safeguarding community to share best practice, expertise and knowledge about the impact of DBS in making safer recruitment decisions.
