Death of an inmate from Millhaven Institution - Regional Treatment Centre 31 January

On January 30, 2021, Wayne Begley, an inmate from Millhaven institution- Regional Treatment Centre, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of his death, Mr. Begley had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, robbery, escape lawful custody, and utter threat to cause death/harm, since his sentence commenced on January 10, 1975.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
