Decommissioning Of Kyalite Hall To Proceed

Murray River Council

Murray River Council will proceed with the decommissioning and demolition of the Kyalite Hall over the next six months, following recommendations outlined in the adopted 2024 Buildings Strategy.

The Kyalite Hall has been assessed as being in 'end-of-life' condition and is no longer actively used by the local community. As such, Council has resolved to remove the asset as part of its broader approach to responsibly managing community buildings across the region.

Mayor, Cr John Harvie said the decision was guided by long-term planning for sustainable and fit-for-purpose infrastructure.

"Our Buildings Strategy was developed to help us make informed decisions about how we manage, maintain and invest in community infrastructure. In the case of Kyalite Hall, the condition, usage, and proximity of nearby alternatives meant decommissioning was the appropriate step."

Nearby facilities in Goodnight and Tooleybuc, both approximately 15 minutes away, will continue to serve community needs in the area. The Kyalite Pub function room is also available for bookings.

Should anyone have questions or concerns, they can contact Council's Building Services team on 1300 087 004.
