Police are investigating two fires at a property at Earl Street Sandy Bay, Tasmania Police say.
At 5.30am 1 January 2018, a fire started in a washing basket in the kitchen of the property. It was discovered by the occupants of the house. The has not been determined. About $10,000 damage was caused to the kitchen.
Today, 2 January 2018, a second fire at the property was reported at 5.30am by a delivery driver.
The windows of two bedrooms had been broken, and a fire started using an accelerant.
About $50,000 damage was caused to the bedrooms.
No one was home at the time of the second fire.
Around the time of the second fire, a neighbour reported hearing a vehicle speeding away from the property.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or the speeding vehicle, to contact Crime Stoppers.
