Delivering Leading Edge Spatial Data

Tasmanian Government

The LISTMap, together with the Common Operating Platform, will soon have even more capability and modernisation, with Tasmanian company Geometry Pty Ltd being appointed to deliver significant upgrades as part of the All Hazards Spatial Infrastructure Project.

Minister for Parks, Nick Duigan, said while already offering some of the most advanced spatial data infrastructure in the country, the Common Operating Platform and the LISTMap, the Land Information System Tasmania, is about to have a further uplift.

"The $2.75m Project is part of the the Tasmanian Government's commitment to implement the recommendations from the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements," Minister Duigan said.

"The LIST, developed in 2014, makes spatial data information easily accessible.

"Spatial data is critical in managing emergencies. This was on show during the recent West Coast bushfires, where I visited the Incident Management Headquarters, with teams accessing spatial data in real time, to track and send resources to where they were needed most.

"These improvements will benefit general users and industry while also providing even greater capability for our emergency services teams who use this data to keep our communities and first responders safe.

"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future builds on the gains made over the past decade to deliver a stronger economy and jobs for Tasmanians, which is what these upgrades will continue to do."

The two web-based mapping applications provide over 3100 spatial datasets for Tasmania.
