Departmental traffic crash at Stafford, QLD

A marked police vehicle proceeding to an armed robbery was involved in a collision with another vehicle at Stafford yesterday morning, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary information indicates the police car was travelling northbound on Webster Road, with its emergency lights and siren activated, when it entered the intersection with Stafford Road shortly before 7am.

An eastbound 4WD travelling along Stafford Road entered the intersection and the two vehicles collided.

Both vehicles sustained major damaged and were towed from the scene. Two other vehicles waiting at the intersection were also damaged when the 4WD collided with them after the initial collision.

No one was injured as a result of the crash and police investigations are continuing.

Police were responding to an armed robbery at Stafford. A man brandishing a gun threatened a male employee of a Rode Road newsagency around 6.50am yesterday. The man fled empty handed in a silver sedan. No one was physically injured and investigations into this robbery are continuing.
