Detectives appeal after man assaulted and stabbed – Panania

Detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted and stabbed in Sydney’s south west last year.

About 7am on Wednesday 23 September 2020, emergency services were called to Clifford Street near Dalziel Avenue at Panania, following reports a man had been assaulted.

Police have been told a 34-year-old man was standing next to his vehicle, when a Nissan Navara with a green P-plate, pulled up beside him.

Three unknown men alighted from the Nissan and assaulted the man, before he was stabbed.

The group then fled the scene in the Nissan and were last seen heading toward Lambert Street.

Neighbours notified emergency services and the injured man was treated at the scene, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition. He underwent surgery and has since been released.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

Following inquires, detectives attached to the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Baimbridge.

As inquiries continue, investigators have released CCTV images of three men who they believe can assist with ongoing investigations.

The first man depicted is described as being aged between 20 and 30, of medium build with dark facial hair. He is depicted wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants, a black cap with black and white sports shoes and light-coloured gloves.

The second man is described as being about 180-185cm tall and of medium build. He is depicted wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and gloves.

The third man is described as being about 180-185cm tall, of medium to large build and depicted wearing wearing a blue hooded jumper with black pants.

The incident is being treated as targeted and inquiries into the circumstances are continuing.
