Detectives Charge Man After Armored Cash Heist

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery of a cash courier in Sydney's south west.

About 12.20pm on Monday 17 March 2025, emergency services were called to a shopping centre in Liverpool following reports of an armed robbery.

Officers attached to Liverpool Police Area Command were told a 50-year-old man – employed as a cash courier – parked his car before walking from the vehicle with a bag containing cash.

Two unknown men – armed with a baseball bat and a knife – allegedly threatened the man, before assaulting him and stealing his backpack.

The men were last seen leaving the carpark in a Toyota Camry.

The 50-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being take to Liverpool Hospital.

A short time later, the vehicle was found alight on Drysdale Road in Mount Pritchard.

A crime scene was established by local police, before the matter was referred to State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Southend.

Following extensive inquiries, about 10am yesterday (Wednesday 25 February 2026) strike force detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at Grafton Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated robbery and refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 1 today (Thursday 26 February 2026).

Inquiries under Strike Force Southend continue.
