Footscray Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives have charged a man following an incident in Spotswood last year, Victoria Police say.
It is alleged a device had been set up to film people at a residence on 16 August.
A 64-year-old Spotswood man has been charged with produce child abuse material, possess child abuse material and install an optical surveillance device.
He will appear at the Melbourne County Court on 30 August.
